The Barre Dance and Fitness offers adult classes in levels for both new and experienced dancers. Unlike many other studios in the Rochester area, these classes are true “adult only” classes and are limited to dancers ages 18 and up so even as a beginner, you won’t find yourself at the barre next to the 5-year-old from down the street! Classes for Adults:
Ballet: Build strength, grace, poise, and flexibility in levels from absolute beginner through advanced. Ballet training provides a strong foundation for all styles of dance. Learn technique and terminology in a progressive program for adults.
Contemporary: Based in ballet and modern technique, but exploring new directions with fluid, "outside the box: movements.
Tap: An upbeat program where your feet become part of the music.
Jazz: Popular music and movements keep you fit and flexible and help develop expression and artistry.
Stretch & Savor: A great way to start your morning with attention on deep relaxation and stretching while savoring your body, mind and soul.
Zumba: A total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class. Perfect for everybody and every body! Each Zumba class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on.
Ballet Barre: A hybrid workout class combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and strength training. This class will incorporate a ballet barre and use classic dance moves such as plies, alongside static stretches. Barre also focuses on high reps of small range movements.
Stretch & Strengthen: A class focused on strengthening and stretching your muscles for dance! This class has some elements of both Yoga and Pilates combined into one, it will leave you feeling sleek, toned and invigorated.
(Coming soon) Cardio Dance Fit: This fun and energetic class will have you dripping with sweat from the amazing workout. By combining dance moves and low impact cardio together, it will get your heart pumping to the beat of the music! All levels are welcomed.
(Coming Soon) Mommy & Me: Open to all younger dancers (ages 4 and under; any child who is able to stand on his/her feet). A great introduction to dance for the little ones! Children will explore dance movements with the help of their moms (or dads or grandparents)!
Ballroom: The Barre Dance and Fitness is excited to host ballroom dance classes with a special guest instructor Leticia Ferrer-Rivera. Leticia has been a dance instructor for 20 years and is an expert in many areas of ballroom dance such as American Rhythm, American Smooth, Salsa, Hustle and Argentine Tango. She also teaches Belly Dance and Bomba. Her love for Salsa has taken her to develop her own style by finding the perfect combination between technique and keeping the authenticity of its Caribbean flavor. She teaches LA Style, Puerto Rican Style and New York Club Style Salsa. During her class she focus on creating simple but fun ways for the students to learn this complex genre, so they can be ready to apply it on the dance floor.
